when to delete one letter in a word,what can i do

click where the letter is, i.e. put your cursor (insertion point) before the letter you want to delete and press the DELETE key on your keyboard.
DELETE key will delete the letter after the insertion point (the blinking | ) while BACKSPACE will delete the letter before the insertion point (the blinking | ). Let me know if you get it.
